Our annual camping trip at Lake Greeson

Every summer we go to Lake Greeson and camp with 2 other families: The Robbins and The Woods. We've had this camping trip planned since November and were all so excited about going. Since we moved to Monticello, we don't get to see our friends that much but we can count on seeing them when we go camping.

We camped from June 3rd through June 7th. Rickie came down to our campsite to visit and Tiger thought he would clean him up a bit!! Caught in the act...When we're camping, we really don't worry about our kids much. They're good about staying somewhere closeby or at one of the 3 campsites. Well, I decided I would see where they were and found them down by the waterspout having a little fun. You can see who is having the most fun here though...Lainey Bug!!! She kept pulling her shirt out and letting the water run down inside her shirt. That girl's a mess!!!Tiger loved camping too...much better this time than when we camped on Lake Chicot. He and I took frequent walks through the campground several times a day. I would take him down to the boat docks and let him run and play in the water. I would've taken pictures, but that would've been a little difficult!!!! He was a little hard to control and as David kept saying, "Tiger is taking Misty for a walk". I love this picture...isn't he pretty!!!
Here the girls are anxiously waiting to go on a boat ride. We had a little trouble with the boats at first, but once they were up and running, that's pretty much all we did.
Morgan would live on this thing if we'd let her. Here she is with Layne and Gage ready to ride. Kristi and Rickie bought this thing called a "Slingshot" and it's perfect for the kids. You can actually sit down in it and just ride. Now don't get me wrong...this thing gets pretty bumpy...especially when the driver of the boat is trying to throw you off...you'll see what I mean later!!LuLu LOVES to ride in the boat! She's not much for tubing yet, but it'll come soon enough. She's still a little scared. She loves to jump in the lake though to cool off. Although, we didn't need to cool off much. The weather was pretty cool while we were there. The water was definitely cool...I had chill bumps the whole time I was in the lake.At Lake Greeson there's a swim beach. There wasn't much of it left after the flood...oh, I forgot to mention, we were worried there for a little while about our trip being cancelled because with all the rain we got in April, the campground flooded...yes, everything was underwater. Anyway, here's Lauren playing on the swim beach by herself. She cracks me up when she plays by herself...I just sit and watch her because she must have an imaginary friend or something because she is constantly talking to herself. It's so sweet!
Talk about sweet...here she is with Lainey Bug and they are having them a bigtime conversation here.Uncle Mike decided he would ride the slingshot with Morgan. He loves the girls and they sure do love him.
Millie was enjoying the boat ride too!!!Here's Uncle Mike with Riley and Morgan...I told you...Morgan would live on this thing if we'd let her.Millie and Jersey decided they wanted to kneeboard!!!Uncle Mike and LuLu!!! I love this picture!Ok...this is a funny story. Mike and Mel decided at the last minute to come camp with us. So we pitched a tent on a walk-up site until they got there. Anyway, Mike was so worried that he would miss the LSU baseball game because he couldn't get a satellite signal here. Look very carefully at the front end of the RV. Notice how the front tires are up off the ground???? He moved his RV around until he could get a satellite signal and this is how it ended up. All I could think about was the movie RV...I could just see this thing taking off and heading toward the lake. Well, it didn't...thank goodness. I just had to get a picture of this because some people (Mike) will go to great lengths to watch their favorite team. Here's the kiddos. We cooked out at Rickie and Kristi's campsite on this night. I wanted to get a picture of all the kids together. Hmmm, look who Morgan has her arm around!!The only ones there to take a picture of the adults together were the kids. I gave my camera to Layne and showed him how to work it. He took two or three pictures and each time kept saying, "yea, that's a good one, that's a good one". Well, they're a little on the blurry side, but at least we have one of us all together. Ok...I know you're probably wondering why the guys brought their golf clubs on our camping trip. Well, Glenwood is only about 20 minutes away and apparently there is a nice golf course there. Soooo, every year the guys plan one day of golfing while we're on the lake. They also like to see how far they can hit a golf ball across the lake...which is what they were doing in this picture. I'm not sure where Woody was, but David, Mike, and Rickie had just finished hitting a few balls across the lake.David, Rickie, and Lainey rode the slingshot together. We kept trying to get Lauren to ride, but she wouldn't. She had seen the guys pulling everyone else extremely fast and didn't trust that they would take it easy with her on there. Maybe next time.
Kristi and Allison decided to give the slingshot a shot!!Then me and Mel. Boy, that thing is rough...especially on your rearend...you can feel every wave and bump in the water. They never threw us off, but they sure tried. It was funny because when you'd hit a bump, your legs would just fly way up in the air!!! We didn't ride it too long...I had enough after just a few minutes. We may try to squeeze another camping trip in this summer before school starts back. We just have to work it around everyone's schedules. We had a great time as always and look forward to the next trip.
