AWANA Grand Prix

The AWANA Grand Prix was held at our church last Wednesday night for Kindergarten through sixth grade. Lauren didn't get to participate because she's Pre-K. Nana helped Morgan paint her car and get it ready. Since this was our first race, we didn't know all of the "tricks of the trade". We learned after the race that there's certain things we need to do to our car to make sure it will have a better chance of winning. Needless to say, her car was purple and gold...are you surprised??
Here they are in front of a retired Nascar racecar. Steve Petty was the guest speaker. He is Richard Petty's cousin and lives in Texarkana.
Here's a picture of Steve Petty speaking before the race. He's a very good speaker who loves the Lord and goes to many different places witnessing to people. He makes cross pennies and handed them out while he was at our church.
It was a double elimination race and sadly, Morgan's car didn't win. Here's a picture of her here waiting for hers to make it to the finish line. Almost there, but not quite. Check out the look on her face. Yes, she was disappointed, but had fun. There were lots of kids there to race their cars.
